This guide quickly gets you started with the DM-RTA. Refer to the user manual for a more in-depth explanation of all the available features.
- Make sure the DM-RTA is charged. It can be used while charging, but avoid tuning while plugged into 120V.
- Open the DM-RTA app, then connect the DM-RTA to a macOS or Windows computer.

In a moment, the screen should show Hardware is online!.

Plug the microphone into the DM-RTA, then select 48V.
Note: If you are not using a microphone from Audio Control, you must know if it requires 48V phantom power otherwise the microphone will be damaged.

Navigate to SPL meter, then select the Ref mic you are using. Select Yes when prompted.
Note: Use C-55H as the reference mic if using the PRO kit's microphone.

You should now see an SPL reading. Use the Speed setting to slow the display rate. The Hold button keeps the highest frequency measured.

Take notice that the Mic gain at the top has been adjusted, calibrated, and locked. Do not change it.

Pulling down the input selector reveals more input options to choose from.

Note the section below the 5 tabs—this shows the DM-RTA test tone output and follows with every tab selected. The DM-RTA offers 3 Digital Out options: Coax, Optical, and USB. The USB option sends test tones and pink noise that an aftermarket radio can play when connected via USB.

Select the RTA tab. This is where most of your work will happen. Set the input to Microphone and the Vertical scale to 50 dB. If music is playing or a conversation is taking place, you’ll see the analyzer screen "dancing".
Note: The dB selected in the vertical scale is what you will choose to perform tunes. This is very opinionated and you should do your own research for what the best choice is. Audio Control recommends 70 dB and that is the default setting.
- The RTA memories are used for a reference tune. Select the Audio Control House Curve to show an example. You will tune following this curve. You can store up to 6 memories of your own curves.

The Octave option shows more frequencies for advanced use. Most applications use the default 1/3 octave setting. If you selected the house curve earlier, choosing 1/6 or 1/12 will display more frequencies.
