Our GTO signal sense operates by detecting a specific carrier wave coming from the vehicle’s head unit. This can cause a situation where the factory head unit of the vehicle may send that signal to the converter long before you ever turn the radio on since the head unit is probably controlling more functions like climate control and/or navigation.
A lot of newer vehicles head units turn on as soon as the car door is open, and stays on for a few minutes after the car is turned off. (Think about how your overhead lights in the car stay on for a while after you close the door)
In some vehicles, if you exit the car via any car door that is NOT the driver side door, the car will think that someone is still in the car and will not turn off the head unit, thus it will continually send that signal to the converter to keep it on.
If you want more control over when the converter turns on, the workaround is to use the remote in on the converter and defeat the signal sense.
